In the second episode of Version Xcursion, Sassa’le and Aram Scaram return with a more electronic-heavy show of dub and downtempo tunes.
Sassa’le and Aram again run through the Version Xcursion segments in episode two; including the Canadian spotlight, the soundclash, return to the classics, and a final 20-minute mix of tunes. In this month’s episode, Sassa’le helms the decks for the final mix, kicking it off with an awesome classic from Portishead, “Roads,” which has been reworked into a dub-filled edit. Additionally, Sassa’le showcases a remastered copy of now infamous Bristol band Massive Attack’s first LP, Blue Lines which was released back in 1991 as a part of “Return to the Classics.”
In their “Canadian Spotlight” focus this month, Aram and Sassa’le showcase tracks from Masia One from her new album Bootleg Culture. Masia has toured with major hip hop names including The Roots and Mos Def among others, and blends her reggae and dancehall sensibilities together to create her own unique sound, which is highlighted by Aram and Sassa’le in this episode.
